What is OBXmania?
Welcome to OBXmania, the home of exciting, fast-paced auctions on the internet. Every day we sell brand new top-name products at incredibly low prices in auctions that start at just $0.12 with no reserve. Take a look at the items we're currently auctioning, and if one takes your fancy, why not buy some bids? They're only $0.60 each.
When you bid, we also reset the counter back up to a maximum of 20 seconds - to give someone else the chance to bid too if they're interested. If no-one else bids and the counter reaches zero, congratulations: you've won yourself a bargain on OBXmania!
Even if you don't win the auction, you never have to leave OBXmania empty handed. Any time after you've placed your first bid in an auction, you can choose to buy the product for a discount, getting back the cost of the bids you placed in that auction. You'll never have to pay more than the Worth Up To price for any products on OBXmania. The auction will continue as usual, so other bidders can battle it out.
How can I take part?
If you want to bid online, you'll first need to register. Once you´ve successfully registered, you can buy some bids and get bidding straight away. REGISTER ONLINE HERE.
How much does a bid cost?
Each bid costs just $0.60, and are available in "BidPacks" of 30, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 bids (clicks).
Can everyone be a winner?
Enjoy the thrill of bidding but never leave OBXmania empty handed. You can still get the product even if you don't win the auction. Any time during the auction, you can choose to buy the item at a discount equal to the amount of bids you've placed in that auction. You'll never have to pay more than the Worth Up To price for any products on OBXmania. The auction will continue as usual, so other bidders can battle it out.
I’ve just won an auction. What now?
Firstly, congratulations - well done on winning the auction! Confirming your win
Once the auction has ended, you’ll be automatically transferred to a page where we’ll ask you to confirm that you still want the item and explain what to do next. You’ll have the opportunity to redeem any coupons you may have and will be told how to pay the final amount. We’ll also contact you via e-mail to explain how to do all this. Just remember to confirm that you still want the item within 7 days of the end of the auction. If you still haven’t confirmed within 21 days, we’ll assume that you’ve changed your mind and no longer want to buy the item.
Paying for the item you won
Just as for your bids, you can pay for your item by credit or debit card (coming soon), or via PayPal. Please make sure that you pay within 7 days of the end of the auction. We’ll confirm you payment via e-mail and arrange for the item to be shipped to you. If the item hasn’t arrived within 14 days of our confirmation of our payment, please contact us.
How can I redeem my vouchers?
We occasionally give away different types of vouchers to make your OBXmania bargains even better value. Here’s an overview of some of the different vouchers that are available: Vouchers linked to special offers
We sometimes give away other vouchers, for example in return for completing surveys or during “happy hours” on the site. These vouchers may have specific restrictions and always have an expiration date. Just like Welcome vouchers, they can only be used against the final price of an auction that you’ve won.
Redeeming your vouchers
Once you've won an auction, you'll automatically be transferred to a confirmation page where you'll be able to enter your voucher code. Don't forget to redeem your voucher, as once you've confirmed your win you'll no longer be able to use it. Please note, that if you use a voucher with a value that exceeds the auction end price, the remaining voucher credit will expire.
What types of auction are there?
Penny Auction
In a penny auction, the price rises by just one cent with each bid placed (whereas in a normal auction, it rises by 12 cents).
NailBiter Auction
During a NailBiter Auction, BidBuddies aren't allowed. Users may only place single bids by manually clicking or calling. Don't walk away or you miss the next incredible deal!
Fixed Price Auction
If you win a Fixed Price Auction, you only pay the price indicated in the heading of the auction (plus delivery costs), regardless of the level the bidding reaches.
100% off
Where an auction is marked “100% off”, the winning bidder does not have to pay the final price. That’s right: the price is zero! You just need to pay the delivery charges.
Open Auction
Anyone can bid on an open auction, even if they have already reached their eight auction limit. Open auctions do not count towards your auction limit. See 'How many auctions can I win a month?' for more information.
20-Second Auction
All auctions start as 20-second auctions. The countdown increases by a maximum of 20 seconds each time that a bid is placed.
15-Second Auction
You guessed it – with these the countdown increases by a maximum of 15 seconds with each bid placed.
10-Second Auction
You guessed it – with these the countdown increases by a maximum of 10 seconds with each bid placed.
Beginner Auction
These auctions are a special offer to our new customers that have not won an auction on OBXmania before. You can only bid on one Beginner Auction at a time. After you have won your first auction, you will no longer be able to bid on Beginner Auctions.
International Auctions
Bidders from all OBXmania countries can participate in these auctions. International auctions are shown by the globe symbol.
Local Auctions
On these auctions, only OBXmania bidders from the US are able to bid. Bidders from all other OBXmania countries are not able to participate in these auctions. Local auctions are shown with the relevant country flag.
OBXmania - buy it Now
OBXmania - buy it Now offers you the possibility to purchase the product you're interested in at anytime. All the bids you place on an auction are offered as a discount off the recommended retail price of the item.
If you browse through ended auctions, you might come across some other auction types that we used to use. In order to provide a more convenient bidding experience, we no longer use these auction types, but to show the list in its entirety, here's how they worked:
What does international auction mean?
International auctionsBidding is open to bidders from several OBXmania countries on most of our auctions. Doing this allows us to offer you a greater variety of products than we'd be able to do if we were to only allow bidding from one country.
Do I have less chance of winning because you allow bidding from other countries?
We always try to offer enough auctions of any item to ensure the winners get a great bargain, without us losing money, irrespective of where the bidders are located. When we find there is more interest in a certain item, we run more auctions, trying to keep the bargains on offer roughly the same. By allowing bids from several countries, we can offer even more auctions of a particular item, and auction items that would otherwise be unprofitable for us.
Why is there sometimes a different item displayed on the same auction in different countries?
We do our best to find matching products in all our markets, but sometimes it is impossible to find an exact match. To ensure the auctions remain fair, we always try to ensure that any inexact matches are of comparable products.
Are the auctions affected by bid prices being different in different countries?
We adjust our bid prices to try to reflect changes in currency exchange rates, aiming to make sure that the price of a bid is the same for all our users, and that they can buy bids in their local currency.
If the same auction is running in different countries, am I at a disadvantage by being located in one country or another?
Today's internet technologies make it almost irrelevant where you are located. Your request to place a bid reaches our servers will usually reach us in just a few milliseconds, whether you are based in New York or London. Please bear in mind, however, that certain users can, at certain times, experience a longer delay in the transfer of data.
How can I find the different auctions available on the site?
"There are several different ways to find items on OBXmania. Here are a few different ways of looking at the different auctions on the site:Live auctions
Please click in the drop down menu "All categories" on "Live auctions" and you will see all live auctions with their countdown.
Future auctions
'Future auctions' are auctions that will start in the future. Please click in the drop down menu ""All categories"" on 'Future auctions' and you will see some of the auctions that we plan to run in the coming days and weeks.
Ended auctions
To have a look at all auctions that have ended, please click on "All categories" and select ""Ended auctions"" - you'll see a list of all the auctions that have ended, along with the price that they sold for.
Auction ID
Every OBXmania auction has its own unique auction ID. You will find this ID beside the colored dot at the top of the auction header (just above the picture of the item), on the auction detail page (you can also see it in the address bar of your browser) . Please always state this auction ID if you have a question regarding a particular auction. "
What's the difference between a live auction and a future auction?
Live auctions are auctions where the countdown has started running. Future auctions are planned to start at some time in the future, so don't yet have a countdown that's running.
How many auctions can I win within a 28 day period?
We‘ve limited the number of auctions that you can win within 28 days to a maximum of eight. We do this so that as many people as possible have a chance of winning our amazing deals. In addition, we limit the number of auctions that bidders can win in different auction groups. We‘ve divided them into colored groups so you can easily recognize them. Again we do this to make sure that our deals are available to as many bidders as possible and to avoid some bidders winning the same items again and again.
Why can I only bid on eight auctions at the same time?
You can only win eight auctions within 28 days. As we don‘t want you to waste any bids or time on auctions outside this limit, we block you from bidding on more than eight auctions at the same time. With every auction you win, we block one Auction slot out of these eight for 28 days until this Auction slot is free again.
Where can I see how many auctions I’m still allowed to bid on?
In the status bar at the top of the page you can see in one glance how many auctions you can bid on. Each grey dot represents an open bidding slot. A green dot means that you are currently bidding on an auction where you are the highest bidder. A grey dot with a green tick shows an auction you've won: this slot is blocked for four weeks from the date you won the auction.
Where can I find information about my auction limits?
For more information about Auction limits please visit “My OBX” and read the section “Auction limits”. Here you can see which auctions you‘ve won and when you‘re allowed to bid again on a new auction in this slot.
When exactly do my auction slots get blocked?
Auction slots get blocked when you‘re bidding (i.e. have placed a Single bid or placed or booked BidBuddy bids) on an auction while being or having the potential to be the highest bidder. The auction slot becomes un-booked when your last placed bid has been outbid by another bidder.
How can I find out in which auction group an auction falls?
Every headline is marked with a colored dot in the headline.
When does an auction end?
An auction ends once the countdown reaches zero. An auction can also end when the date and time shown under "Auction will end before" is reached.
What's the difference between the auction end price and the worth up to price?
Auction end priceThe auction end price is the price at which the auction ended. Only the winner of the auction can buy the item at that price. Sometimes there are special offers available on an auction such as such as "100% off", " Fixed price", etc. - again, these only apply to the winner of the auction.
Worth up to price
The worth up to price is provided as an indication of the price for which this product could be bought elsewhere.

How does the AutoClick work?
The AutoClick bids for you when you haven't got the time to follow a live auction. Simply choose your price range and the maximum number of bids that you want the Autoclick to use. The AutoClick will then bid automatically for you within your price range. How does the AutoClick know when to bid?
If there is just one AutoClick booked to bid in an auction, the bids will be placed automatically within your range at any point within the final ten seconds. The countdown will then extend to a maximum of 20 seconds for each bid that is placed.
If there are two or more AutoClick bidding against each other, all the consecutive AutoClick bids are placed immediately, and the price and countdown increase with each AutoClick bid placed. The countdown will extend to a maximum of 20 seconds per bid.
All auctions will count down from 24 hours with no time added to the counter for bids placed before the timer has reached 2 minutes. Once the timer has reached below 2 minutes the counter will extend to a maximum of 20 seconds per bid placed and will not increase the timer beyond 2 minutes regardless of how many bids are placed. This means that once an auction has gone below 2 minutes, further bids placed will never increase the counter over 2 minutes.
Hint: Ensure that the price ranges you choose are not too close together.
You must book a minimum of 2 bids for the AutoClick to be able to bid.
You can only book one AutoClick at a time. As soon as the first AutoClick is no longer active, you can book the next AutoClick.
Your maximum price has to be at least $1 higher than the current end price.
You can book a maximum of 50 in bids on the AutoClick.
An AutoClick can be deleted at any point. All unused bids at the time the AutoClick is deleted will be returned to your account.
In order to delete a AutoClick, please click the small red cross in the AutoClick Overview, which you can find next to the AutoClick.
Why did the auction end before my AutoClick bids were placed?
The auction can end before your minimum AutoClick range has been reached. The AutoClick can only join the auction within the given price range. This ensures that we offer the lowest prices for our products. All unused bids will be returned to your account.
What happens to bids that are not used by my AutoClick?
Unused bids will be returned to your account.
This can happen when your AutoClick isn't able to use all of your bids within the given price range or when the auction is won at a lower price than you instructed your AutoClick to bid between.
All unused bids are returned to your account as soon as the auction ends.
Can you give me some advice about how to bid?
We often get asked by people how to improve their chances of winning an auction on OBXmania. There’s no "sure-fire" winning strategy, but here are a few tips to help you get started, as well as a few of the traps that novice bidders sometimes fall into.
Place your bid late
Watch the countdown and try to place your bid in the final ten seconds. If the timer has reached this point, you know the auction will end with you as the winner unless another bid is placed.
Start with the cheapest products
Although you can get some incredible bargains on our most expensive items, they also tend to be the most competitive auctions, attracting hundreds of bidders. Our cheaper products tend to have fewer bidders, meaning you’re much more likely to win.
Use the AutoClick to your advantage
The AutoClick is a powerful tool, if you get the timing right you can scare off other bidders by placing one. Nobody likes to see their bids matched over and over again by your all conquering Autoclick, you might just persuade them to give up and try again next time.
Turn their AutoClick against them
On the other hand, some people have a ‘fire and forget’ policy with the AutoClick. It is easy to swoop in and win with a quick single bid if your rival has gone to make a cup of coffee safe in the knowledge that their AutoClick will protect them.
We’ve noticed that users tend to set the ‘Bid To’ value of their AutoClick to a round number, so watch out for this and you might be able to snap up a bargain by simply clicking on the “Bid” button when a AutoClick has just finished.
Keep an eye on what other bidders are up to
You can see the details of the last ten bids placed: try to work out who’s bidding and when they’re bidding. It’s all about timing, so maybe you can work out when the right time is to jump in and grab the lot.
Scout out the competition
Look and see how many different bidders have recently bid on an auction. You’re more likely to win if there are fewer bidders interested in the item than if there are lots of competing bidders.
Bid at the right time of day
The number of bidders varies throughout the day – smart bidders can use this to pick up bargains by bidding when others are busy having breakfast or taking the dog for a walk.
Fine-tune your AutoClick
If you use the AutoClick to bid on your behalf, it’s best not to set your ‘Bid To’ value to a round number – other bidders will be watching out for this (see above!).

How do I buy bids?
You can buy bids using either your credit or debit card (coming soon), or via PayPal. We accept Visa as well as MasterCard.
Where can I keep track of the auction(s) I’m bidding on?
We've created “My OBX” for registered users so that you can keep track of all the auctions you’ve bid on that are still running, as well as those you’ve asked to watch. Simply click on 'My OBX' and select 'My auctions' for all auctions that you have placed a bid on, or 'My Watched Auctions' for auctions that you want to watch.
Where can I see my booked AutoClick bids?
Placed bids on a live auction You can view placed AutoClick bids on the detail page of an auction in the box, AutoClick Overview'.
In this overview, you can see where the AutoClick has placed bids. A AutoClick is classed as active until all AutoClick bids are placed, the maximum price range of a AutoClick is met or if you delete the AutoClick.
All active AutoClicks
You can view an overview of all active AutoClicks when you click on My OBX > Auctions > My AutoClicks.
In this overview, all active AutoClicks are shown. A AutoClick is classed as active until all AutoClick bids are placed, the maximum price range of a AutoClick is met or if you delete the AutoClick.
Where can I see how much I have spent on bids in an auction?
You can always see how much you've spent in a single auction by looking at the 'Savings' section just below the 'Bid' button on the auction detail page.
Where can I see who's bidding on an auction?
To see who's bidding on an auction, just look under 'Bid history' to see a list of the most recent bidders on that auction and the type of bid they placed.
I've placed a bid but I am currently not the highest bidder, why?
When a bid is placed, it will always be the highest bid, but might get out-bid very quickly. This can happen if there are many bidders or if there's another user's BidBuddy bidding on the auction too. You might not see this simply because other bids have been placed with a few seconds of each other - sometimes even within the same second! To help you make your bidding more effective, here are some tips:
Look at the bid history, check the number of bidders on the auction and the type of bid placed. If there are only single bids, try placing a BidBuddy, a BidBuddy can not only save you bids, but also help you to become the highest bidder.
Try looking for a similar auction with fewer bidders, you can often find a similar product on auction at the same time with fewer users. You could pick up a bargain without needing to place as many bids.
Can I bid on a future auction?
We'd ask you to wait until the auction's countdown has begun. These auctions are shown in the drop down menu under "live auctions".
Delivery Charges
The charges shown are for delivery to mainland USA addresses. We're sorry but we are unable to deliver grocery items, gourmet food items and garden furniture to Hawaii and Alaska. We are also unable to deliver to APO and FPO addresses as well as Puerto Rico and protectorates.
Delivery time
Delivery times vary for the different items that we auction. Most of our items are shipped directly from our suppliers, with the majority of orders arriving within 14 days of payment. We’ll let you know as soon as your item has been dispatched.
Substitute items
On rare occasions we are no longer able to source the specific item detailed in the auction. When this happens, we will contact you and offer to send you an equivalent item of at least equal value. Many of the products we sell are high-technology items that have a short life-cycle, so often this will mean an upgrade to the newer version of the item.

What should I do, if the item I won is faulty?
Firstly, we’re sorry that you have received an item that you are not happy with. Most of our winners have no problems with the goods, but occasionally an item might not work or may get damaged in transit. If this has happened, our aim is to solve your problem as quickly as possible. It can sometimes be useful to check the manufacturer’s website or call their helpline – many of the most common problems are easily solved without having to return the product.
In the event that the product you received is faulty, please contact us and we’ll tell you what to do next. Please, let us know the auction ID and the serial number of the product, as these help us to deal with your problem more quickly.
We work with a range of different suppliers who are happy to help identify any problems and to replace faulty items, if necessary.
Please don’t send the item back to us without contacting us – this is likely to mean that it takes longer to replace your item. If your product does need replacing, we’ll contact you and let you know what to do.
Do you offer a standard guarantee on the products auctioned?
The warranties provided on goods may vary depending on the type of item that you win. Please contact our customer service team if you have any queries about the warranties or guarantees that apply to an item that you’ve won.

Why hasn't my bid been registered on an auction?
Very occasionally, users tell us that even though they bid before the countdown ended, their bids did not get placed and the auction ends. In these instances, the most likely explanation is so-called "Internet lag times". These are time-delays in the transfer of data between your PC and our servers. Mostly those delays (lags) occur because single parts of the internet connection are overloaded. This, unfortunately, is a general problem with the internet.
There are a few ways of helping minimize this problem:
While bidding on OBXmania do not download large data such as video or audio files from the internet.
Don't send emails with large attachments while bidding on OBXmania.
Make sure that no other users such as family members, etc. are using the internet while you are bidding.
We're very sorry if your bid wasn't registered by the OBXmania servers in time. To be absolutely certain that you avoid the problem of "Internet lag times" don't leave your bidding until the last second, or use the BidBuddy to place your bids. You can find further information in our Terms and Conditions.
I can't confirm my registration using the link in the registration confirmation email. What should I do?
It might be that your email program shows the link in your registration mail as faulty. If this happens, just copy the complete link in to the address line of your internet browser and press 'Enter'. If this doesn't work, please get in touch with our customer service team, letting us know the email address that you used to register.

What happens to the auctions during system downtime?
Downtime, or outage, is an occasional and unforeseeable problem with the internet, and means that bids cannot be placed during this short period when we are offline. If we experience downtime at any point, we automatically add ten minutes on to the auction end time, so that our bidders are not left at a disadvantage. It is impossible to place any bids whilst the system is experiencing downtime, so any bids attempted during this period will not be debited from your account. If this situation does occur, we advise you to refresh your screen regularly, either by pressing F5 or the refresh button on your browser.
I’m using an AOL browser, why can’t I bid?
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to bid on OBXmania using an AOL browser. As a standard setting, AOL doesn’t allow cookies to be stored in the browser, which means you’ll be unable to see the countdown clocks or place a bid. We’d advise you to try a different browser – ideally Firefox, and ensure that cookies are enabled in this browser.
